Does God still speak through prophets? What is the role of the prophet?

For years the church has been lead to believe that the main leadership role in the church  is pastoral,but that's not quite true.In the book of Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 11 clearly states and he/God  gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: We can clearly see  that the five fold/six fold office/ministry all have their spesific  call and gifting to serve the church.

2 Chronicles 20:20 Believe in the Lord your God,so shall ye be established,believe in his prophets so shall you prosper.
